Sharing our stories can be a creative form of self-care, a way to meditate back on our most meaningful life experiences. It is a moving and memorable way for the LGBTQ community to connect with one another and be heard and esteemed by others. Personal storytelling is also a fun, feel-good way to make new friends and celebrate our uniqueness.
Throughout the weekend, we work on at least two different stories. The first touches on any sort of experience that brings to mind the term "coming out." The second explores the surprising elements within our individual experience of queerness.
Together, we engage in icebreakers to get our stories started, learn practical tips for bringing stories to life, share in pairs and small groups, and offer and receive supportive feedback.
All levels of experience are welcome. No prior public speaking or storycrafting is required.
