Earn eight CLEs exploring the transformational practice of meditation and how to incorporate that practice into your life and legal practice.

George J. Felos offers an overview of the Meditation for Lawyers® weekend retreat at the Omega Institute.

Earn eight continuing-legal-education credits (CLEs) resting, renewing, and enjoying the beauty of New York’s Hudson Valley at a Meditation for Lawyers® retreat with George J. Felos, national meditation teacher and lead attorney in the Terri Schiavo right-to-die case. Tuition includes a certificate of attendance for eight CLEs.

Learn how to meditate, recharge your existing meditation practice, and practice law with authenticity. We begin on Friday with a welcome dinner as we ease into the weekend's purpose—to directly encounter that center/source/core from which true renewal, relaxation, and happiness springs. Our weekend of self-exploration wraps up Sunday with a send-off lunch.

George Felos guides you through a deep relaxation meditation.

Continuing-Legal-Education Credits (CLEs)

This retreat is approved for eight continuing-legal-education credits (CLEs) which are included in the tuition. Please see below for the particular information for your state:

  • North Carolina. CLE-accredited in North Carolina for a total of eight credit hours, which may be allocated between General Practice–eight hours, Ethics/Professional Responsibility–1.5 hours, and Professional Wellness–1.5 hours.
  • Florida. CLE-accredited in Florida for a total of eight credit hours, which may be allocated between General Practice–eight hours, Ethics–1.5 hours, and Professionalism–1.5 hours.
  • New York. CLE approved. Both North Carolina and Florida are "approved jurisdictions" under New York's Approved Jurisdiction List and Policy. Under that policy you are entitled to CLEs for courses accredited in those states:
    • Under New York's Approved Jurisdiction policy, so long as certain requirements are satisfied, New York attorneys may count toward their New York CLE requirement credit earned through participation in out-of-state courses accredited by a New York Approved Jurisdiction.
    • You claim and report your credits as you would a New York accredited course:
      • Calculate the number of credits earned according to New York standards
      • refer to the category of credit definitions to determine the appropriate category(ies) for the credits
      • When you file your Attorney Registration form, include these credits when computing the total number (and categories) of CLE credits completed (There is no need to notify the CLE Board or Attorney Registration that you are claiming credits under New York's Approved Jurisdiction policy)
  • California. Both Florida and North Carolina are California “approved jurisdictions” entitling California attorneys to MCLE credit for out-of-state accredited programs per California MCLE Rules and Regulations:
    • Rule 2.85 Education taken while physically of state
      • A licensee may claim MCLE credit for a MCLE activity authorized by an approved jurisdiction if it meets the requirements of these rules and if the licensee attends or does the MCLE activity outside California.
      • A licensee who qualifies for an MCLE activity authorized by an approved jurisdiction may claim the amount of credit authorized by the jurisdiction. No special procedure is required to claim the credit.
  • Other States. While New Jersey, Connecticut, and many other states issue CLE credit for out-of-state accredited programs, we cannot guarantee that your state will approve these credits; please check with your state bar association.

For more information about CLEs, please email George at meditationforlawyers@gmail.com or call him at 727-736-1402.
