In this Advanced Songwriting workshop with Grammy-Award nominee Jimmie Dale Gilmore, we further explore songwriting as a tool for self-discovery, building on insights and techniques from the Songwriting workshop. The interaction and strong communication experienced in this supportive setting are a productive means of opening new possibilities and inspiration for further individual work.
Each member is invited to present a song to the group with the expectation of honest, considerate feedback. You can choose to participate only in the discussions, but we gently encourage everyone to present a song.
If time permits, we hear some songs without class comment. (Originals only, please.) Those presenting a song for feedback are asked to bring enough printed copies of the lyrics for everyone (usually between 20-25 copies, which can be purchased at guest services at about 10 cents a copy.)
Prerequisite: Admission to this workshop is limited to people who have studied previously with Gilmore, with no exceptions.
