Hussein Kassim is a distinguished environmental and sustainable development practitioner with more than a decade of experience in climate change communication, advocacy campaigns, and developmental initiatives in Ghana. As the founder and executive director of the Center for Climate and Sustainability Empowerment, Kassim leads a premier hub for climate change and sustainable development capacity building in Ghana, driving innovative solutions and fostering sustainable practices within communities.

Hussein served as the Focal Point for the UN Major Group for Children and Youth in Ghana, where he played a pivotal role in representing youth voices and advocating for their active participation in global environmental policies. He has made significant contributions as the Africa Regional Focal Point for UNEP’s 10-Year Framework on Sustainable Consumption and Production, where he worked to promote sustainable consumption patterns and production processes.

Hussein is an active member of the Africa Youth Initiative on Climate Change, where he collaborates with young climate activists to drive grassroots climate action and policy advocacy. His dedication to empowering youth in the climate movement extends to his involvement in the working group of the Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) under YOUNGO, where he contributes to international efforts to enhance climate education, training, and public awareness.

In his current role as the Africa Regional Liaison for ECOS (Climate Education, Communication, Outreach stakeholders Community) at the UNFCCC, Hussein continues to drive impactful climate action and sustainability efforts across the continent. His work focuses on strengthening climate education, enhancing communication strategies, and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders to build a resilient and sustainable future for Africa.
