Biomechanist Katy Bowman breaks down yoga poses that research has associated with certain injuries. Specifically, she has examined excess upper back curvature and restricted hip extension in poses like bridge, seated forward fold, spinal twisting, rolling like a ball, plow, and even savasana.
In this 2-hour studio session guided by Katy, you try each move first as your body wants to do it, then identify immobile or "sticky spots" which can lead to high loads. Lastly, Katy shows you how to work on decreasing inappropriate loads through bolstering and modifying.
If you currently practice or teach yoga, or if you want to but are not sure how to adjust the movements to work and feel better in your (or your student's) body, this course will help you assess these postures with a keener eye and respond in a strong, sustainable way.
Join Teachers Studio live on Wednesday, March 5, 6:00-8:00 p.m. ET (3:00-5:00 p.m. PT). For registered participants, this class will be available until May 5.
