Tia Oros Peters (Shiwi) is committed to Indigenous Peoples’ self-determination and serves as the Executive Director of the Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples.
Tia has been engaged in community organizing and national policy work for social, cultural, and environmental justice for nearly three decades. She has extensive experience in international diplomacy including globally advancing the protection of Water as a sacred resource for Indigenous Peoples' cultural and spiritual sustainability, as well as expertise on the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. She is also one of the founding mothers of the Global Indigenous Women’s Caucus for which she has often served as co-chair.
A published writer and cultural artist, Tia has received an Executive Leadership Fellowship from Center for Civic Partnerships, a Silver Cloud Award for international diplomacy, and was a Shannon Institute Leadership Fellow.
