Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche is a widely celebrated Buddhist teacher in North America, and an advocate of American and Western Buddhism. Based in the United States for the past twenty years, Rinpoche is fluent in English and well-versed in modern culture and technology. A lover of music and art, Rinpoche is a poet, photographer, accomplished calligrapher and visual artist, and a prolific author.

As a youth, Rinpoche trained intensively in the meditative and intellectual disciplines of Indian and Tibetan Buddhism under the close personal tutelage of many of the greatest masters of the 20th century. Today, Rinpoche is recognized as one of the foremost scholars and meditation masters of his generation. He is appreciated for his quick humor and relaxed teaching style, as well as his deep understanding of the mind.

Rinpoche is the founder and President of Nalandabodhi, an international network of Buddhist centers, and Nitartha International, a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to preserving the contemplative literature of East Asia.
