David J. Kearney, MD, is a staff physician at Veterans Administration Puget Sound Health-Care System and associate professor of medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
He offers highly regarded 8-week programs for veterans at the Seattle Veterans Administration Medical Center, based on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a program developed at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
David J. Kearney’s current studies examine the role of mindfulness training as a clinical intervention for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), unexplained medical symptoms, eating behaviors, and overall quality of life. He is also the principal investigator of a study that examines the influence of meditation practices intended to cultivate positive emotions for self and other (lovingkindness meditation) for veterans with PTSD.
