Daniel Hickman (he/him) teaches meditation and adaptive yoga for patients in the Military Advanced Training Center & Adaptive Recreation Center at The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, via the Exalted Warrior Foundation. He directs his Multidisciplinary Yoga Teacher Training at The Center for Mindful Living in Washington, DC, and is an active mentor with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. He continues his service work on the board of the Yoga Service Council, and as a collaborator on the YSC Best Practices book series.
Daniel has partnered with the Howard University Cancer Center/Hospital implementing a restorative yoga intervention for African-American breast cancer survivors (pilot study), Friendship Place/La Casa leading meditation and yoga classes for recovering homeless populations (in Spanish), and the Defense and Veterans Center for Integrative Pain Management guiding patients in rehabilitative yoga to address low back pain (US Military).
Daniel volunteered with the Metropolitan Washington Ear, recording the news and other articles from the Washington Post, for the blind, visually impaired, and physically disabled people who cannot effectively read print. He authored six instructional yoga videos, including Yoga Beginnings and Vets Yoga.
