Born and raised in Argentina, Alejandro Fogel is a multimedia artist who looks at cultural identity and the legacy of heritage through painting, photography, video, performance, and writing.
He is cofounder of the Creativity Workshop and coauthor of Jumpstart Your Creativity in Just 15 Minutes a Day.
Fogel is also author of The Incas Road and is particularly interested in the history and art of pre-Columbian cultures. His work often explores his own life story during the political and social unrest in Argentina in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as the journey of his father, a Hassidic Jew from Transylvania, who spent time in labor camps and in hiding before emigrating to Argentina.
Fogel has received numerous awards and honors, including a fellowship at the Institute of Current World Affairs and the Rolex Award for Enterprise. He was an artist-in-residence at the Rockefeller Foundation Study and Conference Center in Bellagio, Italy.
His paintings and photographs are in museums and private collections in Europe, South America, the Middle East and the United States.
