Kasumi Kato

Kasumi Kato is a long-time educator and meditation teacher, with two master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin and a lifelong interest in contemplative practice. Her interest in meditation began as a child in Japan, where she learned to meditate from a young age. In 2011, she met Mingyur Rinpoche, a renowned Tibetan meditation master, and has been practicing under his guidance ever since. She has completed more than a year in solitary meditation retreat, in addition to many group retreats of varying lengths.

Kasumi leads meditation retreats and workshops around the world. She created a network of meditation groups in Japan under the guidance of Mingyur Rinpoche and actively teaches in the United States, Europe, and other locations. She is especially passionate about mentoring and coaching new meditators and helping advanced practitioners go deeper in their practice.

In addition to her work as a meditation teacher, Kasumi has created many meditation courses and programs. With Mingyur Rinpoche, she designed the Anytime Anywhere Meditation program, the flagship course in the global Tergar Meditation Community, now available as a mobile app. She also designed and continues to teach Tergar’s Meditation Teacher Program, a seminal program to train meditation teachers based on the ancient wisdom of Tergar’s Buddhist lineage.
