Judith Grodowitz is an internationally recognized teacher of the Alexander Technique, with more than 30 years of experience working with individuals and groups in New York City and around the world. She came to Alexander as a dancer and performer, and specializes in working with performance artists. She draws upon decades of experience and exploration in improvisation, dance, somatic studies, and literary and visual arts.

Judith’s teaching is grounded in F.M. Alexander’s fundamental insights into how awareness of human design and function can facilitate ease of movement and presence. Judith’s work is furthered by her conviction that embodied attention to the links among story, image, sound, and gesture is a vital means by which we may bring greater imagination to the performance of any task and by which we may enjoy more expansive and healthful lives.

Judith serves on the faculty at the William Esper Acting Studio in New York City. She taught annually at the ImPulsTanz International Dance Festival in Vienna, Austria, for 15 years. She has led multiple workshops in the Greek Islands, combining Greek mythology, Alexander Technique, environment, and movement. Other past positions include the Mannes College of Music and the Actors Studio Drama School, New School University, Vocal Arts Graduate Program, Bard College, New York Theater Workshop, and Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center Alternative Medicine Center.
