Jim Donovan, MEd, is a multiplatinum musician, wellness expert, and TEDx speaker dedicated to sharing the restorative power of music. As the director of music and wellness at Saint Francis University, Jim integrates his expertise in rhythm and sound with a mission to improve health and well-being. His TEDx talk, How to Trick Your Brain Into Falling Asleep, has garnered more than 7 million views, showcasing his ability to connect scientific research with practical healing techniques.
With more than 20 years of experience, Jim has developed a unique set of methods that use sound and rhythm to address issues like anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and sleep disorders. He has led more than 3,000 presentations at universities, professional conferences, and for organizations such as the Veterans Administration and the State of Pennsylvania.
A founding member of the multiplatinum band Rusted Root, Jim co-wrote the hit “Send Me On My Way,” featured in Ice Age, Matilda, and even used by NASA to wake up the Mars Rover. During his time with Rusted Root, he performed alongside legends such as Led Zeppelin, Carlos Santana, and The Grateful Dead.
Currently, Jim performs with his band, The Sun King Warriors, blending rhythm-heavy roots rock with powerful percussion. Through his music and wellness programs, Jim continues to inspire personal transformation and healing, helping individuals and communities tap into the profound benefits of rhythm and sound.
