Jenny Hwang, PhD, is a clinical psychologist licensed in New York State who coaches the parents of teens and young adults. More than 73,000 follow her Instagram profile, the Project Parent Coach.

For more than 20 years, Hwang specialized in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, and borderline personality disorder. This included a decade treating, supervising and creating mental health programs for students at New York’s Stony Brook University on Long Island. She has extensive training and supervision in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She’s also worked with first responders, military service members, and physicians, and is a recognized provider by the World Trade Center Health Program and the Committee on Physician Health.

Hwang is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelor’s in history. She obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, and was a research psychologist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical. She is a member of the American Psychological Association.
