Overnight Oats

Add to favorites

Need a make-ahead breakfast that will fuel your morning with less than 5 minutes of effort? Look no further than overnight oats.

Oatmeal is the quintessential healthy breakfast thanks to the rich amounts of fiber and vitamins—particularly the soluble fiber beta-glucan, which has been found to be both heart healthy and helps you stay full longer.

The chia seeds in this recipe help thicken the oats mixture and add an extra dose of omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants to your breakfast.

In addition to the ingredients, you will need a mason jar with a lid or a bowl with a cover.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
    1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 cup unsweetened milk (your choice: cow, goat, almond, coconut, soy)
    1 tablespoon maple syrup

Directions

  1. Combine oats with chia seeds, your favorite milk, and maple syrup. Let the ingredients sit overnight in the fridge for a grab-and-go breakfast ready in the morning.

Easy add-ons include cinnamon, a splash of vanilla, nut butter, seeds, or berries. For a chewier texture, try using steel-cut oats instead of rolled oats. Want a warm breakfast? Put the same ingredients in a slow-cooker overnight on low.
