Beth Comstock

Beth Comstock built a career path from storyteller to chief marketer to Vice Chair of GE. She focused on understanding what’s next, navigating change, and helping others do the same.

As GE’s Vice Chair until 2018, Beth oversaw the Business Innovation units including GE Ventures and GE Current/Lighting. Previously as Chief Marketing Officer, Beth initiated GE’s clean-energy and digital transformations, increased GE’s brand value, and partnered to enhance its inventive culture. As President of Integrated Media at NBC Universal, Beth oversaw television advertising and the company’s digital efforts, including early development of hulu.com. She held a succession of marketing and communications roles at GE, NBC, CBS, and Turner Broadcasting/CNN. Beth began her career as a journalist.

She has served as a Director at Nike, EVgo, and Penta, a Trustee of The Cary Institute, The National Geographic Society, and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum as Board President. She was a Visiting Scholar with Columbia University’s Center for Science and Society and has advised several startups.

Beth graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in biology. Her first book, Imagine it Forward, about working (and living) on the edge of change, was published in September 2018.
