Join artist Naima Green and herbalist Arvolyn Hill in an interactive outdoor workshop centered around queer ecologies and plant preservation.
In this weekend retreat, we explore the beauty of nature on Omega's campus for inspiration to craft cyanotypes (sun prints) on paper and fabric using foraged materials. We also spend time observing and discussing the relationships between plants and their environment, and in turn, how those connections transcend established notions of gender, the natural world, and community.
Through lecture and group discussions, hands-on activities, and nature walks, you learn:
- Cyanotype techniques
- How to make sun prints on fabric and paper using natural materials
- Pressing flowers for preservation
- Plant identification
Return home with original artworks and a greater understanding of how creating art can preserve and archive our current moment for the future. This workshop is for all levels.
