Integrating emotional intelligence with the wisdom of awareness forges a powerful new approach to transformation. Emotional intelligence shows how we can better manage ourselves and our relationships. Daniel Goleman details what it means to be competent in emotional intelligence, and explains what science tells us about self-awareness and empathy that support this path to excellence.

The chemistry of connection brings together the neuroscience of habit with mindfulness, showing how emotions can be opportunities for insight and genuine relationship. Tara Bennett-Goleman integrates her map of emotional patterns, mindful habit change, principles from cognitive science, and perspectives and practices from Eastern and Western psychologies, from her work on the chemistry of connection.

This helps us transform emotional habits from patterns that disconnect into patterns that connect, and brings a new dimension to the emotional intelligence competencies by emphasizing greater resonance in our personal and work lives.

This integration can make us better leaders, team members, spouses, and parents. Through talks, question-and-answer sessions, insight meditation, and group discussions, we learn to develop and enhance our emotional intelligence skills of self-awareness, self-regulation, and empathy. We discover new ways to recognize and repattern our habits in an evolution of emotion.

Everyone is welcome. This may be of special interest to coaches, teachers, human resources and mental health professionals, and anyone who works with others.

Daniel Goleman, PhD, brought the concept of emotional intelligence to a global audience and reported on behavior and the brain for the New York Times for more than a decade. He is the author of many books, including Focus: The Hidden Driver of Excellence.

Tara Bennett-Goleman

Tara Bennett-Goleman, MA, a teacher and psychotherapist, is author of Mind Whispering and the New York Times best-seller Emotional Alchemy. She trained at the Cognitive Therapy Center of New York and is a pioneer in the integration of mindfulness with cognitive therapy.
