Sheryl Petty, EdD, has worked in education, systems change, equity, and organizational development for nearly 20 years. She has been a high school teacher, executive director, and consultant to districts, nonprofits, foundations, and schools, and is a national education equity and systems change consultant, an associate consultant with Movement Strategy Center (Oakland) and Management Assistance Group (Washington, DC), and was a principal associate at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University.
Petty’s work currently focuses on promoting aligned approaches to improving our collective life across education sectors including contemplative practice, research, capacity building, policy, community organizing, educator preparation, and development, messaging, and communications. A former fellow at Stanford University’s Center for Opportunity Policy in Education, and a practitioner of indigenous African and Buddhist traditions, she holds degrees in mathematics, systematic and philosophical theology, and educational leadership and change.
She is also a spiritual and life coach, drawing on her nearly 20-year practice as a Buddhist and priest in an African-based tradition.
