Bollywood Vinyasa Yoga & Dance Teacher Training

Registration for this workshop has ended. Go to the Search Workshops page to look for upcoming workshops.

Bollywood Vinyasa Yoga is inspired by the exuberant, erotic, and expressive dance moves seen in Indian films. Join yoga and Indian dance diva Hemalayaa and learn to teach this invigorating new twist on traditional vinyasa flow yoga.

You’ve never practiced or taught yoga quite like this before. Familiar yoga postures, meditations, and mantra chanting are linked together with classical Indian, hip-hop, and belly dancing. The classes are sassy, big, bold, outrageous, and enormously fun. It’s impossible not to laugh and smile with joy as you shimmy, hop, shake, bop, pulse, seduce, and play—Bollywood style.

Through demonstrations, movement, and question-and-answer sessions, you learn the basic building blocks of constructing a Bollywood Vinyasa Yoga class, as well as Hemalayaa’s secrets to creating, leading, and inspiring students.

Yoga teachers and experienced students with at least 6 months of practice preferred. No dance background required. Wear comfortable workout clothing and bring a water bottle. Hemalayaa is also part of Being Yoga; August 20-22, 2010.

Hemalayaa inspires people to make dance part of their lives through the unity of yoga and Indian dance. She is the creator and author of numerous fitness DVDs, including The Bollywood Dance Workout, Beautiful Belly, and Bollywood Booty. She teaches worldwide and has been seen shimmying with Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show and strutting with the staff of the Today Show. hemalayaa.com
