Most of us have experienced prayer in some form during our lifetime, sometimes rote and stale, sometimes full of longing and need, and sometimes charged with clarity and ecstasy. Perhaps we have stumbled in surprising ways upon divine guidance through prayer, but don’t know how to find our way back.
Few of us have been taught how to deepen our prayer experience. Led by seasoned guides from Christian, Jewish, and Sufi traditions, including Wm. Paul Young, author of the best-selling book The Shack, we dive into a variety of prayer forms this weekend. Our focus is on clearing away whatever stands between us and the divine presence.
Those from all faiths (or none at all) are welcome. Come prepared to pray, sing, dance, meditate, and share stories that widen and deepen the pathways to the sacred.
Praying
It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch
a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway
into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.
