The Yoga of Sound & Singing™

This workshop has been cancelled.

Yoga asana requires the perfect union of will and surrender, and can connect us almost instantly to both our limiting beliefs as well as our deepest connection with the divine. Sacred singing is much the same.

In this workshop guided by ecstatic chant vocalist and composer Suzanne Sterling, we learn about the history of sound in spiritual traditions and use its power as a tool to enhance our yoga—and our lives. We combine yoga asanas with sound, mantra, pranayama, and guided meditation to deepen our understanding of the interconnectedness of these various yogic practices. During the week we:

  • Focus on freeing our uniquely authentic voice
  • Awaken and refine the subtle energy body through toning, chanting, and singing
  • Allow our creativity to expand and access deep states of inner peace
  • Discover the healing power and medicinal uses of sound
  • Learn to use our voice as an aid to meditation
  • Enjoy live ecstatic chanting and intentional prayer with Sterling and some of the best local devotional musicians
  • No singing experience is necessary.

Suzanne Sterling is also teaching (with Seane Corn and Hala Khouri) Off the Mat, Into the World® and Off the Mat, Into the World® Leadership Training.

Suzanne Sterling’s devotional music has been commissioned for film, theater, and DVD. She offers workshops on yoga, sound, singing, and sacred activism, as well as teacher trainings, nationwide. Sterling is also a cocreator (with Seane Corn and Hala Khouri) of Off the Mat, Into the World®. suzannesterling.com
