Nowhere is the power of contemplative silence more profound than in meditating outdoors in the beauty and mystery of nature. Amidst the woods and gardens of Omega’s campus, we explore the interface between the natural world and the inner world of mindfulness meditation, and the profound understanding it awakens about our place in the web of life.
Guided by meditation teacher Mark Coleman, we learn about the essential quality and practice of mindfulness—the capacity to be present, aware, and awake to ourselves, our environment, and what is happening in the present moment. Through talks, question-and-answer sessions, meditations, periods of silence, and individual and group exercises, we apply our mindfulness meditation practice to develop a contemplative relationship with nature. We learn from nature as the ultimate teacher, deepen our appreciation of the Earth, and find our time spent meditating outdoors can lead to profound states of harmony, peace, wonder, and love.
No previous meditation experience necessary. All levels of practitioners are welcome.
If possible, spend some quiet time in nature prior to the workshop. Recommended reading: Coleman, Awake in the Wild.
