Pema Chödrön, one of the preeminent Tibetan Buddhist teachers of our time, and Richard Reoch, president of Shambhala, offer this rare retreat based on Pema Chödrön’s new book, Practicing Peace in Times of War. It is the first time these two foremost Buddhist teachers have ever taught together.
Throughout this three-day weekend we explore the importance of meditation in finding peace and nonaggression in one’s heart, as well as its relevance in the world. The format includes meditation practice, talks, question-and-answer sessions, and small-group discussions. In addition, we participate in the Buddhist contemplative practice of silence from Saturday morning through Sunday lunch. The retreat is suited for those new to meditation, as well as those who have been practicing for years.
Special schedule. Limited enrollment; register early. Bring your own meditation cushion or bench if you have one; cushions and chairs are provided if you don’t. Recommended reading: Practicing Peace in Times of War.
