This deeply personal, joyously experiential workshop with senior Iyengar Yoga teacher Joan White is for both enthusiastic students and teachers who seek to deepen their personal practice of yoga and expand their understanding of pranayama and philosophy. Through demonstration, observation, and correction, White encourages us to penetrate from the gross aspects of external practice of postures to the subtle integration of mind, body, and spirit. Mornings are devoted to intensive asana practice, covering the full range of classical poses, including forward bends, backward bends, standing poses, hip openers, twists, and inversions. The afternoon sessions include talks and discussions on the subtleties of yogic philosophy, practical questions on practice, and pranayama. An additional session in practice teaching is offered by White and colleagues for those wishing to apply for Iyengar Yoga teacher certification. Previous yoga experience is required. Bring three blankets, a belt, a sticky mat, and blocks, if you have them. This workshop can be applied toward the continuing education requirements of Iyengar Yoga Certification.
NATABOC CE Level Advanced Joan White is one of the most accomplished practitioners of the yoga taught by B.K.S. Iyengar, with whom she has studied since 1973. White serves on the ethics committee for the Iyengar Yoga National Association, and trains and helps certify others who seek to become teachers of Iyengar Yoga. joanwhiteyoga.com |
