“If we wish to take better photographs, we must learn to see in a new way,” says Dan Goldman. This workshop is for everyone who wants to improve their digital nature photography and transform the way they see themselves and the world around them. Through a balanced approach that incorporates mind, body, and spirit, we explore the beauty and mystery found in nature and form a sacred connection between nature, our photographs, and ourself. We begin with basic and advanced principles of digital nature photography, and using a hands-on approach, discuss composition, depth of field, lighting, fill flash, and color balance. Through daily exercises, evening critiques, and group discussions, we explore parallels in our life and in nature while improving the quality of our digital nature photography. Naturalist Brian Robert Shaw assists us in gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of the natural world around us. We end our week with a slide show filled with our nature photography. Bring your questions, samples of your photography, a digital camera, lenses, and a tripod, if you own one. Laptops are encouraged but not necessary. This workshop is also offered May 23-28, 2010.
