In this workshop for licensed professionals, participants have the opportunity to refresh their technique and review EMDR protocols and procedures, consult on their difficult cases, watch demonstrations, and practice EMDR in small supervised groups. Instruction focuses on using EMDR with complex cases, resource development and installation, target development, and cognitive interweaves.
Through lecture, hands-on practice, and demonstrations, we learn:
Cite protocols and procedures for using EMDR with a wide range of diagnostic categories
Identify client selection criteria and cautions necessary for safe use of EMDR
Practice techniques for working with blocked processing and abreactions (catharsis)
Employ imaginal and cognitive interweaves
Use EMDR with adults traumatized as children
CE and CME are available and included in the tuition. Required reading: Parnell, A Therapist’s Guide to EMDR and Tapping In. $15 materials fee for manual; include when you register. This EMDR course is for those who have completed Parnell’s 7-day EMDR Professional Training and have received 10 hours of consultation with one of her recommended faculty, or have completed Level II or equivalent EMDR training. You will be required to submit and bring copies of your professional license or certification. Laurel Parnell, PhD, is an internationally recognized clinical psychologist, consultant, EMDR trainer, and author of four books, including A Therapist’s Guide to EMDR, upon which this training is based, and Tapping In, her newest book. Since 1991, Parnell has immersed herself in the practice and development of EMDR and has trained thousands of clinicians in the United States and abroad.
