Maho Bay: Week 2 |
| |
|
At Maho Bay, you create your own program. You may decide to spend the week sampling from all the workshops or focusing on a few teachers...the choice is yours.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, PHD
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
Based on his renowned program of stress reduction at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Jon Kabat-Zinn, author of numerous books, including Coming to Our Senses and Arriving at Your Own Door, engages us in sitting meditation, body scanning, and hatha yoga, as well as mindfulness of communication and other activities of everyday life. This is a time to renew and recharge, explore our lives at a deeper level, and learn tools for a lifetime of well-being.
Naushon Kabat-Zinn
Power Vinyasa Yoga
This vigorous workshop, for people at all levels of ability in yoga, is a wonderful way to develop strength, serenity, flexibility, and balance. A dynamic blend of sweat and spirituality, this energizing and cleansing practice emphasizes the linking of movement with breath, cultivating our ability to awaken to the present moment. From this place of heightened awareness, San Francisco Bay area yoga teacher Naushon Kabat-Zinn encourages us to deeply explore how our yoga practice can help us live a more connected, contented, and peaceful life.
David Wegman
Reimaging the Image
This workshop focuses on facilitating artistic expression through the exploration of a variety of mediums—everything from printmaking and decoupage to seriography, frescoes, and moldmaking. David Wegman’s techniques use everyday materials from the world around us as elements for original, inspired artwork. Wegman lives on his largest sculpture: a schooner that he himself built 26 years ago on the island of St. John. When not teaching, David sails around the world gathering creative inspiration.
Steven Michael Pague
Exploring Fields of Elixir: Gathering Starlight
With Steven Michael Pague, longtime codirector and host of Omega’s Maho Bay program, we delve into the mysteries of qigong and tai chi. Through easy-to-learn yet profound movements, we discover how to access “the elixir within,” our inner medicine, and in doing so, take home practices we can readily duplicate to increase vitality, strengthen immune function, enhance creativity, and achieve more harmony and balance.
Stephan Rechtschaffen, MD
Island Time: Living Fully in This Moment
Physician and cofounder of Omega, Stephan Rechtschaffen, teaches holistic approaches to time, longevity, stress reduction, and well-being. Through visualization techniques, mindfulness practices, and awareness exercises, the author of Timeshifting: Creating More Time to Enjoy Your Life and a coauthor of Vitality and Wellness, shows us how to slow down and come into the authentic and natural rhythms that are the result of living fully in the present moment
Annette Knopp
The Free Heart
Everyone yearns to live a life from the Free Heart. We all have an intuitive sense of what that might be, and yet too often feel that something is missing. In a nourishing setting, we use spiritual inquiry and deep listening to explore the natural perfection and true love of our innate "presence-heart-awareness," so that our yearning can translate itself into a living reality. Annette Knopp's background includes the nondual meditation traditions of India and Tibet, as well as modern Western integrative approaches. She is featured in the book Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Wisdom: The Feminine Face of Awakening.
