Are you an experienced student of yoga looking to expand and deepen your practice? Join Glenn Black, renowned yoga practitioner, bodyworker, and longtime Omega teacher, in this 5-day exploration of the underlying structures that move our bodies—skeletal structure, musculature, connective tissue, skin—and how they engage in the skillful performance of yoga asanas. Morning sessions are devoted to detailed asana practice, with focus on the contractibility of muscles and ligaments and the basic principles of joint physiology. In the afternoons, we continue asana practice with an emphasis on finding stability in hypermobile joints. All sessions include pranayama (breathing exercises) and conscious relaxation. All experienced yoga practitioners, from intermediate to advanced, are invited to attend The Anatomy of Yoga. Glenn Black is also teaching Advanced Yoga Immersion; May 7-14, and Essential Skills of Yogic Meditation; August 6-8, 2010.
NATABOC CE Level Advanced
Known in the yoga community as a master teacher, Glenn Black has an inspiring, no-nonsense style of teaching that comes from more than 30 years of intensive study of yoga, movement, and therapeutic bodywork. Black went to India in 1987 to study with B.K.S. Iyengar, the founder of Iyengar Yoga, and his son, Prashant Iyengar, and continues to integrate the therapeutic principles of Iyengar into his teaching. He is also a longtime student of the techniques of Kriya Yoga as taught by Swami Satyananda of India’s Bihar School. Like the legendary “forest yogis” of ancient times, Black has spent many years of intensive practice in solitude. He is also the only person certified by Shmuel Tatz, the creator of BodyTuning™, to teach this sophisticated system of bodywork. Black’s clients include many top music, sports, and business celebrities. |
