Heart of Yoga Teacher Training

Applying Krishnamacharya's Principles for Safe, Personalized Practice

Registration for this workshop has ended. Go to the Search Workshops page to look for upcoming workshops.

According to yoga master Krishnamacharya, yoga must be adapted to the individual, not the individual adapted to the style of yoga. In this 5-day yoga teacher training led by Mark Whitwell, we learn how to apply Krishnamacharya’s philosophy to the style of yoga we already know and love in order to make it more efficient, powerful, and safe for ourself and our students

Appropriate for yogis of all experience levels, the Heart of Yoga Teacher Training includes a detailed study of asana, pranayama, bandha, meditation, and intimacy as a seamless process. We learn appropriate sequencing and how to adapt asana to individual and cultural needs. We also study from a variety of yogic texts, including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and Mark Whitwell’s Yoga of Heart.

By week’s end, we each take home a personalized practice that, in Krishnamacharya’s words, creates “peace and power in our daily life,” as well as the tools we need to help others do the same.

Mark Whitwell is also part of Being Yoga; August 26-28. This training can be applied toward Heart of Yoga teacher certification and Yoga Alliance teacher training certification.
