The workshop presents a groundbreaking discovery—a "new way" to stretch that gives you the results that you have always expected from stretching. This discovery shatters the false myth that muscles become more flexible simply by stretching them. Instead you must contract a muscle continuously while stretching it!
Bob Cooley discovered this extraordinary new technique while attempting to rehabilitate himself after being struck by an automobile traveling more than 70 mph.
Contracting muscles while lengthening them is called Resistance Flexibility and Strength Training. It offers immediate, cumulative, and permanent increases in flexibility; takes the pain out of stretching; and prevents you from over-stretching. Sixteen unique stretches produce concomitant physiological and psychological benefits.
Past participants of Cooley's workshops say they experienced "extraordinary rates of change" and that his method "makes so much sense" and that "it works."
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- define Resistance Flexibility and Strength Training (RFST) and describe how it differs from traditional concepts of stretching;
- demonstrate proficiency in 16 different RFST self and assisted exercises;
- discuss the concomitant physiological and psychological benefits of each of the different stretches;
- recognize the contraindications of each exercise;
- evaluate and test clients range of motion and strength;
- apply the self-diagnostic skills to create programs for each individual; and
- utilize palpation techniques for assisted RFST exercises that will be used to synthesize the concepts into producing significant health improvements.
Note: All participants must pass both written and practice tests before receiving certification status.
CE available.
