Puja is a ritual celebration that expresses devotion and adoration for the divine through invocations, prayers, and songs. In this celebration of the art of puja, we learn to create sacred space, chant and sing in classical, Vedic, and popular styles, and gain a novel perspective into our own unique role in the sacred drama of life.
Kirtan leader and bhakti teacher Shyamdas leads us in our exploration of puja, where we discover the sacred realms of kirtan and chant, as well as the lives, teachings, and songs of devotional saints of India. We also examine the depth of pure nondual Vedanta philosophy at the source of sacred Indian chant and learn to incorporate food, drink, and everyday objects into our sacred offerings to the divine.
The songs and celebrations we explore together in our group puja this weekend are heart opening practices and create deep appreciation for our individual divine energies. We return home with the ability to continue our practice of puja, building our sacred awareness and allowing blessings to flow into our life.
Shyamdas is part of Spring Ecstatic Chant; May 7-9 and Ecstatic Chant; September 3-6, 2010.
Shyamdas, a kirtan leader in Omega’s Ecstatic Chant weekends, has lived in India for nearly 40 years, where he explores the arts of puja and celebration. He is a prolific translator and writer on the subjects of devotion, sacred chant, divine service, puja, and Vedanta. A well-known devotional bhakti teacher, he leads workshops internationally. shyamdas.com
