Jivamukti’s passionate focus on the original meaning of the Sanskrit word “asana”—as seat, connection, relationship to the earth—is as practical as it is radical during this time of global consciousness shifting. This 5-day immersion for Jivamukti Yoga teachers, as well as yoga students from any yoga discipline, takes us deeper into the study of Jivamukti Yoga and its five tenets: ahimsa (nonviolence and compassion), scripture, meditation, nada (deep listening), and bhakti (devotion to God).
Taught by the creators of the Jivamukti method, Sharon Gannon and David Life, along with Gabriela Bozic, Yogeswari, and Shyamdas, the week promises to be a mystical adventure into the transcendental. Our practice together includes:
Daily asana and meditation practice, including a deeper look at alignment and deep listening
Study of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, Chapter 1
Exploration of ahimsa, emphasizing the integration of ethical vegetarianism
Lecture and practice of vinyasa, krama (sequencing), and ksana
(the rising and passing of thought)
Integration of the yogas of karma (service), jnana (knowledge), and bhakti (devotion)
Question-and-answer session with faculty
