One of the deepest forms of suffering in our culture is the pain that comes with the feeling that something is wrong with us. When not faced, this deep insecurity engenders chronic judgment, depression, and addictive behaviors. It prevents us from living and loving fully and gives rise to the intolerance and violence that plague our world today. “Radical acceptance” helps us clearly perceive and lovingly accept what is happening in the present moment. During this retreat, we cultivate the qualities of mindfulness and compassion through guided meditations and reflections, exercises, and discussion. The weekend includes periods of silence, as well as the safety and support of interpersonal sharing. This workshop is open to beginning and experienced meditators, as well as health professionals who want to use these skills with their clients. Tara Brach, PhD, is the author of Radical Acceptance. A clinical psychologist and the founder and senior teacher of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, D.C., she is also a cofounder of the Washington Buddhist Peace Fellowship. imcw.org |
