Self-compassion, positive relationships, and an enduring sense of freedom and peace are essential parts of our everyday lives, or should be.
Yet, each of us struggles with difficult emotions and mental blocks. These problems occur when we are unkind to, and neglect, our inner self.
Zen masters and coauthors of The Great Heart Way, Gerry Shishin Wick and Ilia Shinko Perez, teach us how to use meditation to heal inner wounds that subvert happiness and prevent us from living a fulfilling life.
Through group discussions and sharing, journaling, drawing, exercises, and private interviews with the teachers, we learn how to improve our relationships, self-esteem, and overall well-being as we develop greater awareness and a deeper understanding of ourself.
This workshop is open to all those who desire to heal their life and find self-fulfillment; no meditation experience is necessary.
Required reading: Wick and Perez, The Great Heart Way. Bring the book and a journal to the workshop.
Gerry Shishin Wick is founder and spiritual director of Great Mountain Zen Center and president of the White Plum Sangha. He is the author of The Book of Equanimity and coauthor of The Great Heart Way. gmzc.org
