Could it be that the deepest truths “are there for the mind to see in the things that God has made,” as the Bible says in Romans 1:20? Father Richard Rohr, a Franciscan priest and proponent of simple living, is convinced the Cosmic Christ—the presence of Christ in all of creation—is freely giving us messages through the wonders of the natural world, and we can learn to recognize these messages. Drawing on the depth of the Franciscan tradition’s love of nature, as well as nature-based soulwork practices from other traditions, Father Rohr leads us in teachings, small group work, ritual, and guided reflection in nature. As we rediscover and celebrate nature, we encounter, awaken, and come to trust our soul, an essential part of any spiritual journey. We learn to reconnect with the natural world and its cycles as a way of opening a window to our own soul as well as a way to heal the environmental and spiritual crises of our time.
