An endowment is a restricted fund that is invested over time for growth and income. Omega's endowment fund will do more than assure the future. It will guarantee that participants will always have a place to take programs that will help them grow.
Earnings from Omega's endowment will
- fund research into the benefits of holistic education. Our faculty know the power of their workshops in the moment, but have little data on the long-term effects of their teaching. Our findings would substantiate what constitutes effective teaching and offer greater credibility to holistic education.
- grant wider access to those in need through Omega's Scholarship Program. Our current program provides access to holistic education for about two hundred deserving recipients each year. We need to do more. Economic barriers should not be a reason to deny anyone the benefits of attending a workshop that may be life-affirming.
- provide financial stability during uncertain economic times. For Omega, even a moderate decline in revenue could well produce significant financial losses.
- reduce pressure to increase tuition, room, and board. Our current expenses are greater than our tuition revenue. Endowment revenue allows us to keep our pricing affordable.
- broaden the creative range of our programs. Creative programming is often constricted by bottom-line considerations. Additional funds will allow us to invite new voices to campus, and to include in our offerings programs which might otherwise not be affordable.
