Dear Friends,
Welcome to Omega's 2008 season.
Since 1977, Omega has combed the world and cast a wide net to find inventive,
pioneering teachers, artists, healers, and thinkers who have helped tens of
thousands of people learn how to live more generous and healthy lives. We
have also helped lay the groundwork for new traditions and lifestyles that have
uplifted and expanded our culture. Terms and ideas that seemed on the fringe of society when we started—meditation, yoga, alternative medicine, the mind-body connection—are now part
of our everyday language. We are proud of our pioneering role in the holistic movement.
There is something unique and magical about the fullness of the Omega experience. At Omega, we've found that the environment in which teaching happens is as important as the teaching
itself. The natural beauty of our campus, the nourishing food we serve, the extraordinary teachers
and participants who gather from around the world, the ways in which our staff genuinely care
about our guests—all of these elements add up to a true holistic learning experience.
I believe that personal transformation is the foundation for cultural change. My years at Omega have helped me become a more aware and fulfilled individual. I've also learned that my own happiness means
very little if those around me are suffering and if the world itself is out of balance. Without this bigger
picture, my own development is incomplete. If we could sum up Omega's philosophy in one word it
would be interdependence. We at Omega are excited to dedicate our mission to becoming—and
helping others become—responsible stewards of the interconnected web of life that sustains us all.
When you come to Omega for a
workshop—whether it's your first time or your tenth—you become an integral part of a community
where like-minded people gather to invent the future. There are more than 300 workshops and
professional trainings described in this catalog. They are your chance to learn something new or
remember something ancient; quiet your mind or expand into a new career; or take a creative risk
or a long overdue rest. Whatever you do at Omega, we will support you every step of the way.
