Jodie Evans


Jodie Evans Jodie Evans has been a community, social, and political organizer for the past 35 years. She has used her skills to protect the earth, give voice to communities and people who go unheard and unseen, promote human and civil rights, protect the rights of women, raise the minimum wage for farm workers, and protect dolphins.

Jodie served in former California governor Jerry Brown’s administration and ran his campaign for the U.S. Presidency 1991. She also directed the Hereditary Disease Foundation and founded the Grief Recovery Center after the death of her daughter. In the 1980s and 1990s, she was a board member of the Women’s Campaign Fund, Women’s Political Committee, and Hollywood Women’s Political Committee, and a founding board member of Environmental Media Association and Sand County Venture Fund.

In 1999, Jodie cocreated a Peace Conference in Dubrovnik and produced the World Festival of Sacred Music in Los Angeles. In 2000, she produced the Shadow Conventions and went on to cofound CODEPINK: Women for Peace in 2002. She’s written two books inspired by her work in Iraq, Twilight of Empire: Responses to Occupation and How to Stop the Next War Now. She currently serves on the boards of Bioneers, Drug Policy Alliance, Rainforest Action Network, and Circle of Life Foundation.
