Pamela Seigle, MS
Pamela Seigle is the founder and executive director of the Reach Out to Schools: Social Competency Program, a social-emotional learning program based at the Stone Center at Wellesley College and currently being implemented in more than 260 elementary schools in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Jersey, and New York. At the core of the program is the belief in the importance of relationships to both social-emotional and academic learning. Through its curriculum and training, the program works with all children and adults who are part of the school community. She is coauthor of the Program's Open Circle Curriculum and Parent Program curriculum. She has served as Instructor and Acting Director of the Wellesley College Elementary Education Program.
As a community activist in Boston, Pamela founded the Community Playground Project, Inc., which coordinated the involvement of 3,000 volunteers in planning and constructing the Robert Leathers playground in a Boston city park. She developed a jazz series to bring arts into the community and benefit local nonprofit organizations. Through forums and other events, the series also provides opportunities to explore themes of community and citizenship. Pamela is a founding member of Friends of Rosie's Place, a neighborhood group that for the past 20 years has coordinated and provided meals for a homeless shelter for women.
For the past 20 years, Pamela has been an advocate for the Boston Public Library, serving as president of the Friends of the West Roxbury Library and as a member of the Examining Committee. For the last eight years she served as a trustee of the Boston Public Library and Chair of the Trustees' Education Committee. She also served as a director of the Boston Public Library Foundation and the Urban Libraries Council.
Pamela is married and has two children. She loves to sing jazz, run, hike, read, and spend time with her family and friends. |
