Steve Rosenberg

Steve Rosenberg is senior vice-president of Scenic Hudson and executive director of the Scenic Hudson Land Trust. He directs Scenic Hudson’s programs to save the land that defines the Hudson Valley as a nationally recognized landscape and to ensure that riverfront development strengthens, rather than ruins, public connections with the river. Rosenberg led Scenic Hudson’s efforts to create Poets’ Walk Park in Red Hook, New York, and to save threatened lands near the Franklin Roosevelt National Historic Site in Hyde Park, New York, as well as more than two dozen other parks and preserves up and down the Hudson Valley. He is currently working to transform a former industrial waterfront in Beacon, New York, into a park and a green hotel and conference center.

Rosenberg was chairperson of New York State’s Region 3 Open Space Advisory Committee from 2000 to 2008. In his hometown of Rhinebeck, New York, he conceived of, and is cochairperson of, the Open Space and Affordable Housing Committee, which has created a draft plan to maintain the town’s rural character and economic diversity. Before joining Scenic Hudson in 1990, Rosenberg practiced commercial real estate and land use law in Washington, D.C. He graduated with honors from the George Washington University law school and holds an undergraduate degree in history and urban studies from Northwestern University.
