Robert Backus is chief executive officer of Omega. For more than 20 years, he managed his own contracting business, including residential and light commercial projects, and Omega’s operations, including all of Omega’s buildings, such as the Sanctuary and the Ram Dass Library.
Robert Backus has provided visionary leadership for the
Omega Center for Sustainable Living (OCSL)
,a state-of-the art education center and natural wastewater treatment facility. A model of sustainable architecture, the OCSL is a pioneering project in the Living Building Challenge and is expected to be the first building in the United States to receive the Living Building designation, in addition to receiving LEED Platinum certification.
