Ann Lindsay

Ann Lindsay

Award-winning artist Ann Lindsay was born in Chicago and received her formal art training at Pratt Institute in the late 1960s. Upon moving to Petersburgh, New York, in 1970, she established Ann Lindsay Pottery and for 15 years created pieces that were carried in major craft galleries and shops throughout the country. Feeling an increasing need to work more directly in color and to express the beauty she saw in a more representational way, she began to paint during the slow seasons. Studying with Jack Flynn for two years, she made the transition from potter to painter and had her first one-woman show.

Lindsay began teaching watercolor painting in 1989 and has broken new ground in the development of a holistic, student-centered approach to teaching art. The author of Watercolor: A New Beginning: A Holistic Approach to Painting, she teaches workshops internationally and is on the faculties of the Southern Vermont Art Center, Omega Institute, and New York Open Center. Lindsay’s workshops have received national attention and have been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine.
