Laraine Herring
Laraine Herring, author, teacher, playwright, editor, and certified grief-recovery specialist, holds a master of fine arts in creative writing and a master's degree in counseling psychology.
Her novel, Lay My Sorrows Down, won the Barbara Deming Award for Women. She is also author of Monsoons; Lost Fathers: How Women Can Heal from Adolescent Father Loss; Ghost Gathering; Bone Dance; and Writing Begins With the Breath: Discovering Your Authentic Voice. Her current projects include a novel titled Unbearable Compassion, and a historical novel tentatively titled The Shadow in the White House, about the life of first lady Jane Pierce.
Herring's stories and essays have been widely anthologized, and her nonfiction has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She teaches creative writing and English at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona, has developed numerous workshops that use writing as a method for healing from grief and loss, and has trained in poetry therapy. |
