Blue Spirit Retreat is perched on a peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Playa Ostional, a three-mile long beach that is part of the Ostional Wildlife Refuge. The beach is home to olive ridley and leatherback turtles, which come ashore in large numbers from July through November to lay their eggs, though you may see them at any time of the year.

The adjacent beaches of Nosara (Playa Nosara, Playa Pelada, and Playa Guiones), offer the chance for longer walks and world-class surfing. The waves in Nosara are challenging but forgiving, making it a great place for beginning or intermediate surfers. Snorkeling, boat rides, fishing, and kayaking are also popular activities in Nosara, as is relaxing in the sun!
