Saturday Evening Events—Being Yoga Conference RetreatAdvancing Your Practice7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.Saturday, August 27, 2011 All are welcome Join Being Yoga teachers Gary Kraftsow, Sandra Anderson, Sarah Powers, and Mark Whitwell for a panel discussion about what we as yoga practitioners and teachers can do to advance our personal practice. Gary Kraftsow began his study of yoga in India with T.K.V. Desikachar in 1974 and founded the American Viniyoga Institute in 1999. He is author of Yoga for Wellness and Yoga for Transformation and has produced the DVDs Yoga Therapy for Low Back, Sacrum, and Hips and Yoga Therapy for Upper Back, Neck, and Shoulders. As one of the foremost yoga therapists in the United States, Kraftsow has consulted on many research and collaborative projects, notably a National Institutes of Health study on yoga for back pain and a Harvard Medical School study for generalized anxiety. viniyoga.com Sandra Anderson is a resident and senior teacher at the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania. She teaches yoga and meditation, and has a special interest in working with prana and the subtle body. Anderson writes for Yoga International magazine, and is coauthor of Yoga: Mastering the Basics. adventuresinyoga.wordpress.com Sarah Powers, founder of Insight Yoga, began teaching yoga in 1987. Together with her husband, Ty Powers, she is cofounder of the Insight Yoga Institute. She is also cofounder of Metta Journeys, a service-oriented organization that offers yoga retreats internationally to help women and children in developing countries.
