Cultivating Prana in Yoga Practice (B1G) Peter SteriosMaple
Track: Asana

Prana is the life force that both animates us and keeps the autonomic functions of our body alive. Hatha yoga practice works directly with prana to integrate and strengthen our body—muscles, connective tissue, bones, organs, and circulatory and respiratory systems. Guided by Peter Sterios, we observe the power our practice has to build prana by focusing our attention on the subtle qualities of our breathing and the physical and psychological resistance we often find in yoga poses. This class is especially helpful for those working with physical limitations or injuries, as well as yoga teachers wanting to deepen their understanding of yogic healing.

Yin Yoga & Meditation (B4B) Jenn BrownCedar
Track: Asana
Level: General
Yin Yoga is a quiet, inward focused practice that affects the flow of energy through the body. Most postures are held for up to five minutes, which puts gentle pressure on the ligaments and joints, gently moving and stretching them. While we remain still in each posture, we cultivate a receptive awareness that allows us time to practice one of the most basic skills of meditation: paying attention. As we learn to direct our attention, we gain an additional tool for managing the movement of energy. This relaxing but challenging practice is a great complement to more active styles of yoga.
CE Level Essential
Jenn Brown is an editor, gardener, and yoga teacher with a passion for growing food and sharing it with friends. She is the managing editor at Omega, where she also teaches Yin Yoga to the staff. Her classes combine the focused attention of awareness practice with the embodied experience of yoga. |

The Yoga of Fulfillment (C5K) Rod StrykerCabin By The Field
Track: Asana
Level: Seasoned
The yoga tradition encourages and provides teachings for seekers to achieve both spiritual and worldly fulfillment––"mukti" and "bhukti." There is a science to both. In this lecture given by ParaYoga founder Rod Stryker, we outline the yogic keys that empower us to accomplish whatever goal we hold dear, fulfill our worldly as well as spiritual potential, and achieve our ultimate destiny. Our discussion covers the theory of "sankalpa," how we bring thought into form; the theory and practice of "yoga nidra," yogic sleep; and the concept of both individual and collective "dharma," life purpose.
Rod Stryker is the founder of ParaYoga and widely considered one of the country's leading yoga and meditation teachers. He has taught for more than 30 years and leads retreats, workshops, and trainings worldwide. parayoga.com |
